My travel buddy has the travel bug in a big way, and has travelled to many different countries. The last time she was in Paris, as she wandered the streets near Notre Dame, she found “Le Rouvray”- a quilting shop brimming with French fabrics! She’s not a crafter, but knows I am, so decided to bring some fat quarters of French fabric home for me – how sweet!!
That was four years ago. Since then, every few months I have taken these fabrics from their bag, paired them with other fabrics, and wondered what to make with them. I wanted it to be something significant. I decided that I wanted the French fabrics to dominate, so if I was to add another fabric, it would only be in small amounts. That left me with fat quarters, so I couldn’t make something that required meters of fabric. I had a few ideas from time to time, but none of them ever felt quite right. Then, as we planned our recent trip to Hong Kong, the right project sprang to mind!
And so the travel set was created! A travel journal cover (complete with monogram) , a passport cover and an sleep mask.
