Not much to show you on the crafty front at the moment – I have almost finished the Kokeshi doll quilt top, but am waiting for a delivery of fabric to finish the borders. I've also been typing, typing, typing up patterns. Unfortunately I can’t show you what they are for, as they are projects that will appear in magazines later in the year!
Lily is eight, and seems to be following my crafty footsteps. She found my small scraps from the Kokeshi quilt and a few others that I have on the go, and asked if she could have them, and if I could help her to make a quilt for Fellow. Let me introduce Fellow. Once upon a time (about seven years ago), he was a very soft, fuzzy recognizable “Forever Friends” Bear (these days, if you look really hard through the love-worn fur you might be able to see it!)
He has been Lily’s #1 best friend toy, and has been through all of life’s up and downs with her (as you can probably see!) So, as her favourite toy friend, he was the natural choice for her to make a quilt for. Now as much as I wanted to help with a quilt for Fellow, I was very time poor, so needed a quick solution. Thankfully I found the tutorial for this super-cute “Tickertape Quilt Tutorial” – it was perfect!
Lily chose the placement for the fabrics, and I stitched away. It was great – I had it finished in an hour and a half, and Lily (and more importantly Fellow!) love it!
